Pedagogical Utilization of SOCR and CAUSEweb
Resources in Probability and Statistics Courses
The 2007 joint
SOCR/CAUSEway
continuing education workshop aims at demonstrating the functionality,
utilization and assessment of the current UCLA, SOCR and CAUSEweb
resources. This workshop will be of most value to AP teachers and
college instructors of probability and statistics classes who have
interests in exploring novel IT-based approaches for enhancing
statistics education. The workshop will provide an interactive forum
for exchange of ideas and recommendations for strategies to integrate
computers, modern pedagogical approaches, the Internet and new student
assessment techniques.

11th International Facet Theory Conference
Facet Theory is a
systematic and
integrative approach to coordinate Theory and Research. As a design
tool, it includes experimental design and sample construction as
special cases. Thus, Facet Theory comprises the universe of
observations, the population of respondents, and the range of
observations. It stratifies these universes by facets, and integrates
the design into the mapping sentence, which guides item construction
and formulation of hypothesis. Finally, particular multivariate data
analysis methods (Such as SSA, POSAC, MSA and other variants of
Multidimensional Scaling - MDS) have been developed to test these
hypotheses. Conference's Objectives: To present theoretical advances in
Facet Theory and Facet design. To present or review advances and
applications of Facet Theory and other multivariate analyses in diverse
fields. To demonstrate methodological advances in multivariate analysis.

Satellite
Meeting to the ISI Biennial Session in
Lisbon, Portugal: Innovative Methodologies
for Censuses in the New Millennium
Population censuses
are a key
source of detailed demographic and socio-economic information, despite
increasing difficulties in conducting them. The aim of this meeting is
to highlight and focus on the methodological advances that are taking
place around the world, and raise awareness regarding best practices in
census methodology. It intends to bring together leading experts in
census methodology from around the world, and to cover all the
methodological aspects of the census process. The next major round of
censuses will be in 2010/2011. Holding such a meeting in the second
half of 2007 is therefore an ideal timing for discussing methodological
developments that are already taking place, and the challenges facing
the methodology of future censuses. The language of the meeting will be
English.
