This is a call for papers and participation in the 2nd annual Quantitative Methods in Defense and National Security conference (QMDNS-07) to be held at George Mason University, Fairfax Campus, Virginia. The goal of the conference is to promote collaboration between those with quantitative national security problems (e.g., defense and homeland security practitioners) and those who solve quantitative problems (e.g., statisticians, mathematicians, operations researchers, engineers, and others). X CLAPEM Latin American Congress of Probability and Mathematical Statistics

The Latin American Congress of Probability and Mathematical Statistics (CLAPEM), organized by the Bernoulli Society (Latin American Chapter) is the main event for probability and mathematical statistics in the region. It occurs every two/three years and attracts researchers and students from the most important latinoamerican centers. It was already organized in Venezuela, Uruguay, México, Brasil, Chile, Argentina and Cuba.

The conference aims at being a forum for discussions and exchanges on all aspects of statistics., practical and theoretical in relation to development issues in Africa. The conference is arranged, counting on multiple synergies: meeting of practitioners and scientists from various professional areas (academic, business, government and international agencies, etc.) and fields, meeting of several educational backgrounds (Anglo-Saxon, French, Portuguese and Spanish) present in Africa, meeting between statisticians working in Africa and outside Africa.

The conference aims to join statistical practitioners, academical statisticians, consultants and other professionals who are involved in the use of statistics for business and african development issues.
