22th International Workshop on Statistical Modelling

The International Workshop on Statistical Modelling is an annual conference organised by the Statistical Modelling Society. The workshop concentrates on the various aspects of statistical modelling, including theoretical developments, applications and computational methods. Papers motivated by real practical problems are encouraged, but theoretical contributions addressing problems of practical importance or related to software developments are also welcome. The scientific programme is characterised by having invited lectures and a pre-workshop short course, contributed papers and posters. Contributed papers should be suitable for a 20 minute oral presentation or a poster and focus on motivation, statement of key results and conclusions, and emphasise examples, wherever possible. To maintain the focus of the conference and to promote interaction between all delegates, all talks will be the presented in the same lecture hall. There will be no parallel sessions. Students are encouraged to attend the workshop. The programme is designed to allow for discussions and interchange between junior and senior scientists. Awards will be given for the best student paper, for the best student talk and for the best student poster.

2007 Applied Probability INFORMS Conference

The Applied Probability Society is a subdivision of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS). The Society is concerned with the application of probability theory to systems that involve random phenomena, for example, manufacturing, communication network, computer network, service, and financial systems. The Society promotes the development and use of methods for the improvement of evaluation, control, and design of these systems. Such methods include (stochastic) dynamic programming, queueing theory, Markov decision process, discrete event dynamic systems, point processes, large deviations, reliability, and so on. Our members include practitioners, educators, and researchers with backgrounds in business, engineering, statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, and other applied sciences.

Tenth IMS Meeting of New Researchers in Statistics and Probability

The IMS Committee on New Researchers is organizing another meeting of recent Ph.D. recipients in Statistics and Probability. The purpose of the conference is to promote interaction among new researchers, primarily by introducing them to each other's research in an informal setting. Participants will present a short, expository talk or a poster on their research and discuss interests and professional experiences over meals and social activities organized through the conference and the participants themselves. The meeting is to be held immediately prior to the 2007 Joint Statistical Meetings in Salt Lake City, UT. Eligibility: Anyone who has received a Ph.D. since 2002 or expects to receive a Ph.D. by 2008 is eligible to attend.
