Statistics
for Biomolecular Data Integration and Modeling
Development of high
throughput
assay technologies has rapidly transformed the field of molecular
biology. Sequencing of the human genome and improvements in measurement
technologies for DNA, RNA and proteins have revolutionized biological
research, resulting in vast amounts of diverse types of quantitative
data. Some examples of biological data types are sequence data at both
the DNA and protein level, proteomics data collected by a variety of
different technologies, protein-protein interaction data, gene copy
number at loci throughout the genome, genotyping data via SNP arrays
and gene expression data as quantified by microarrays. In order to use
the abundance of information to significantly advance biological
understanding, fundamentally sound quantitative methods for combination
of the manifold data types are required. Appropriate data integration
gives researchers power to uncover meaningful biological relationships,
enabling further understanding, targeted followup and efficient use of
resources. The purpose of the workshop is to bring together
participants from statistics, computational science, bioinformatics and
biology, and to encourage interaction.

Conference
on Ordered Statistical Data and Inequalities: Theory &
Applications
The conference on
Ordered
Statistical Data is an international annual conference. It aims at
creating a stimulating atmosphere for researchers in the area by
fostering research, discussion, and exchange of ideas on statistical
work on ordered data. The conference was held in Warsaw (2002-2004),
Turkey (2005), and Iran (2006). The 2007 meeting will be held at the
University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan, during June 12-14, 2007. It will
be dedicated to all aspects of Ordered Statistical Data and
Inequalities and will provide an opportunity to explore as many topics
as follows: Distribution Theory and Probability Models, Approximations
& Characterizations, Stochastic Ordering, Inequalities,
Progressive
Censoring, Statistical Inference, Biostatistical Applications,
Information and Entropies, Nonparametric Methods & Ranked Set
Sampling, Asymptotic Theory and other related topics. With a goal of
bringing together all established and new researchers on these and
related topics from all over the world, the conference will provide a
great opportunity for interested researchers.

Conference on Establishment Surveys III
The Third
International Conference
on Establishment Surveys (ICES-III) will be held at the Hyatt Regency
Montréal, Quebec, Canada, from June 18 to 21, 2007. ICES-I
in
1993 convened more than 400 experts in the area of surveys of
businesses, farms, and institutions. It set the stage by formally
documenting the state of the art in 1993. In 2000, ICES-II took a
forward look at methods for surveying businesses, farms, and
institutions. ICES-III will explore the current state of the art. There
will be a selection of proposals for invited paper sessions. In
addition, the conference will include a keynote speaker on Monday, June
18, contributed papers, poster sessions, three short courses, software
demonstrations, and a closing program on Thursday, June 21. Potential
topics that may be covered at the conference include, but are not
restricted to, registers and frames; survey design, sampling, or
estimation; data collection or processing; dissemination; linking
business and household data; disclosure control for establishment data;
treatment of outliers; specific sectors or industries; and
cross-cutting issues. Following the conference, a CD of conference
papers will be sent to all participants.
