51st Annual Fall Technical Conference: Statistics and Quality...Where Discovery Begins

The Fall Technical Conference, co-sponsored by the American Society for Quality and the American Statistical Association, has long been a leading forum for the advancement of statistics and quality. The goal of this conference is to engage researchers and practitioners in a dialogue that leads to a more effective use of statistics to improve quality. This 'best value' conference will feature the latest developments in statistical methods as they relate to quality improvement and decision-making and will serve to highlight discoveries in unique and innovative statistical methodologies and quality tools. If you're interested in presenting an applied or expository paper in any of the three parallel sessions (Statistics, Quality Control or Tutorial/Case Studies) contact any of the program committee members listed on the website. Work should be strongly justified by application to a problem in engineering, manufacturing, process/chemical industry, physical sciences, finance, marketing, or a service industry. The mathematical level of the papers may range from basic to that of the Journal of Quality Technology or Technometrics.

The Ninth Workshop on Case Studies of Bayesian Statistics

The Ninth Workshop on Case Studies of Bayesian Statistics will take place on October 19th and 20th, 2007 at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA. The Workshop will feature in-depth presentations and discussions of substantial applications of Bayesian statistics to problems in science and technology, poster presentations of contributed papers on applied Bayesian work and, new this year, contributed presentations by young researchers. In conjunction with the workshop, the Department of Statistics' Tenth Morris H DeGroot memorial lecture will be delivered by Professor Larry Brown, University of Pennsylvania. We also expect to have a short course on sequential Monte Carlo methods.

Design and Analysis of Experiments (DAE2007)

Department of Mathematical Sciences, The University of Memphis, Memphis, TN 38152 will be hosting the DAE2007 meeting during October31,2007 to November 3, 2007. It will be the fifth conference in the DAE conference series. As in earlier DAE conferences the principal aims of DAE2007 meeting will be to provide support and encouragement to junior researchers in the field of design and analysis of experiments and to stimulate interest in topics of practical relevance to science and industry. There are also opportunities for junior researchers to be paired with a senior mentor close to their areas of interest in the conference. To stimulate interaction between junior researchers and senior researchers there will be round table discussions on research directions, publishing, writing of proposals, etc., which will be led by senior researchers. DAE2007 will continue to focus on emerging areas of research in experimental design, as well as novel innovations in traditional areas. Session themes (tentative) will include: (1) Design for Microarray Experiments, (2) Crossover Designs, (3) General Linear Models, (4) Computer Experiments, (5) Screening Experiments, (6) Design Assessment Tools, (7) Computer Algorithms for the construction of designs, (8) Applications of Experiment Design, (9) Bayesian Design, (10) Sequential Design, (11) Optimal/ Combinatorial Design and Mixture Experiments. DAE2007 is being sponsored by Department of Mathematical Sciences, The University of Memphis and is being held at Holiday Inn (University Campus) in Memphis.
