IASC 07 - Statistics for Data Mining, Learning and Knowledge Extraction, to be held at the University of Aveiro, PORTUGAL, from August 30th to September 1st, 2007, is a Satellite meeting of the 56th session of the International Statistical Institute, Lisbon. The satellite conference is promoted by the IASC - International Association for Statistical Computing, a section of the International Statistical Institute. The purpose of this meeting is to foster the interaction of researchers in the interface between computational statistics, data mining, knowledge discovery and statistical learning. Satellite Meeting to the ISI Biennial Session in Lisbon, Portugal: Innovative Methodologies for Censuses in the New Millennium

Population censuses are a key source of detailed demographic and socio-economic information, despite increasing difficulties in conducting them. The aim of this meeting is to highlight and focus on the methodological advances that are taking place around the world, and raise awareness regarding best practices in census methodology. It intends to bring together leading experts in census methodology from around the world, and to cover all the methodological aspects of the census process. The next major round of censuses will be in 2010/2011. Holding such a meeting in the second half of 2007 is therefore an ideal timing for discussing methodological developments that are already taking place, and the challenges facing the methodology of future censuses. The language of the meeting will be English.

ISI 56th session satellite meeting on Small Area Estimation

This conference follows SAE2005 (Jyväskylä, Finland) and it is organised by the IASS in co-operation with the University of Pisa, University of Florence, University of Trieste, University of Cassino, ISTAT and the Italian Statistical Society. The scientific programme is characterized by having special invited sessions as well as contributed papers and posters covering topics on (i) theoretical and methodological developments in small area estimation and related fields, and in (ii) practical applications of small area estimation methods, including their potential uses in various research areas (agricultural, environmental, health statistics, marketing research, poverty mapping,...). This meeting is intended to be of interest to a wide variety of people, including statisticians, researchers and other experts of universities, national statistical institutes, research institutes and other governmental bodies and local authorities and private enterprises dealing with research methodology, empirical research and statistics production for regional areas and other population subgroups. The conference language is English.

IASC-ERS Summer School on Data Mining and Statistical Learning Techniques

The Summer School is locally organised by the Second University of Naples, the University of Naples "Federico II", the University of Orientale and the University of Benevento. In the context of the Data Mining process, the main goal is to discover knowledge from large database using statistical learning techniques. The IASC-ERS school is intended to achieve postgraduate training in special areas of statistics. The participants are expected to have a good background in statistics at the Ph.D. level, although not necessarily oriented to the subject of the course. Also, professionals working in industry interested in Data Mining are invited to participate.

14^th Workshop on Stochastic Geometry, Stereology and Image Analysis

To be held in the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, School for Mathematics and Computer Science, Department of Stochastics, Jena, Germany. The conference topics concern various aspects of stochastic geometry, integral geometry, geometrically-oriented spatial statistics, stereology and related mathematical fields and applications, in particular image analysis.
